The Rev. Travis Payne was recently awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award from Mission Service Corps by Tommy and Jeannine Thompson, state coordinators.
The Mission Service corps is a team of self-supported missionaries who volunteer in an assigned ministry that supports evangelism and church planting efforts of the North American Mission Board and its mission partners.
"There is an old saying that if you want a job done well, you ask a busy person. That certainly holds true for Travis Payne," said Jeannine Thompson of Payne's ministry.
Payne is the director the three local Trucker's Chapels, director of Manna From Heaven food pantry ministry of South Texarkana Baptist church and the church's pastor. He also serves on the executive board of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and the executive committee for the Southwest Arkansas Baptist Association in Texarkana
"I am very honored to be recognized in this way but the real recognition really goes to all the people who serve," Payne said. "When you have a great team, great things can be done."
In addition, Mission Service Corps volunteer Steven Michael was recognized for more than two years of service at the Trucker's Chapel.
